Red Room

This is a study of a detail from the painting The Red Room by Christof Stanits. This was my first attempt at actually 'painting' inside a computer. Using shading and colour rather than just relying on lines.

I've somehow turned Christof's elegant and statuesque lady into a Russian Constructivist poster girl with 'just got out of bed' dreadlocks. Either through my imagination or my lack of skill. The hair was actually a mistake - but I thought the dreadlocks looked cool. So they're staying.

I've foolishly used some colours that aren't available on the web so this pic doesn't look as good as it should. For instance, a big triangular block has appeared on her neck which should be smooth colour. Oh well... I'll hopefully know the next time.

Back to the drawing board. Literally.

I like it. But why the rectangular lips?
